City of Sanger Christmas Parade
* Holiday Memories *
Welcome to the 24th Annual City of Sanger Christmas Parade. Our goal is to have a safe, fun, and family-friendly parade to wrap up our kick-off to the holiday season. Thank you for joining us in making that goal a reality!
Spectators may watch the parade all along Bolivar Street and Elm Street.

Deadline to submit entry forms is Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Entry into the parade is FREE
-
Float trophies will be awarded this year in the following categories: Best in Theme (Classic Christmas /Holiday Memories), Judges’ Choice Award, Best Use of Lights, Most Whimsical
-
Musical, dance, or other performances will be awarded trophies in the following categories: Mayor’s Award, Best in Theme, Best in Music, Most Original

Creative use of Christmas lights and decoration are REQUIRED.

Vehicle entry limits
-
Passenger-sized vehicle entry (with no float): limit two vehicles per business

Oversized vehicle entry (truck, wrecker, etc.): limit one vehicle per business

Parade entry numbers will be issued one week prior to the event date.

Family-friendly Christmas music may be played or sung by parade entries. All other music is prohibited.

Gentle tossing of candy is allowed; please be mindful of children and spectators.

Holiday theme is allowed, but political messages are prohibited.

Parade line-up is promptly at 5:30 pm.

Each parade entry will pause briefly for review in front of the judges’ stand on the corner of Bolivar and 5th. Music/dance performances will be given up to 45 seconds to perform in front of the judges’ stand.

All parade entries must clearly display their entry’s name and number on the front passenger side of the entry so that it is clearly visible to the judges. Non-float entries must clearly display their entry’s name and number on a banner or other written method.

NO SANTA OR MRS. CLAUS ON ANY FLOAT. Children may be confused and upset by multiple Santas.

All participants must ride on a float. Exceptions: bands, marching and dance teams, and adult(s) handing out candy (please toss candy GENTLY at spectators’ feet).

All parade entry vehicles must be in good repair, licensed and insured, and driven by a licensed driver. Please include the licensed driver’s name and contact info on the application.

DROP OFFS: Float riders and walkers, it is best to come in groups. You may be dropped off at the staging site. Watch for signs. Parking is available at the staging site for the parade duration.

IMPORTANT: All parade entries having children dropped off at the parade site MUST have a responsible ADULT leader present at the drop-off area by 4:30 PM.

School Groups (sports/cheer teams, bands, etc.), check with your coach/director for drop-off instructions

Horses
-
Horses are permitted in the parade.

All entries involving horses must contain a lighted element.

All horses must be equipped with a horse diaper or horse poop bag, or have someone walking behind to clean up the mess. NO EXCEPTIONS!
FLOATS
-
Vehicles pulling floats must be in good mechanical repair, roadworthy, licensed and insured, and driven by a licensed driver.

All floats must provide side barriers to keep children away from sides.

All floats must display creative use of Christmas lights and decorations.

For spectator safety, floats must have an adult (18+) walking on each side (minimum 2 per float). Please, no children walking next to floats or vehicles in the parade.
DANCE TEAMS

All dance routines must be tasteful and family-friendly. Lewd, obscene, and vulgar movements are strictly prohibited.

Dance teams may play family-friendly Christmas music only. All other music is prohibited.
TRUCKS AND OTHER OVERSIZED VEHICLES

LIMIT ONE OVERSIZED VEHICLE PER ORGANIZATION.

For spectator safety, all oversized vehicles must have an adult (18+) walking on each side (minimum 2 per vehicle). Please, no children walking next to floats or vehicles in the parade.

All vehicles must display creative use of Christmas lights and decorations.
STAGING INFO
Staging will take place at 5:30 PM at Stephen Baker Field on Wood Street in Sanger. Your entry number will be issued one week before the event. Your entry number must be clearly displayed on your float or with your group. The parade steps off at 6:30 PM.
PARADE ROUTE
The parade will step off at 6:30 PM from Stephen Baker Field, Left onto north 10th, and right onto Bolivar. Pause at the marked location between 5th and 4th street for judging, and proceed to 2nd street. Make a left on 2nd, Left on Elm, Left on 10th street, Right on Hughes, Left on N. Stemmons, Left on Wood Street, End of Route.
After the parade, once all scoring has been tallied, winners will be notified by the Southaven Chamber of Commerce.
